Two days ago, I began studying Jezebel, again. I have studied Jezebel, her spirit, and the evil in her ways before, but I like to go back every so often to study her again when I find myself encountering that spirit. During my study of her, Elijah caught my attention.
Elijah was an Old Testament prophet who performed many miracles in God's name. He opposed the worship of false gods and was willing to challenge anyone who tested and tempted the God he served, the true God.
So, during my study, 1 Kings 17:2-6 stood out to me. In these passages of scriptures, God instructs Elijah to hide by the Kerith Brook, and that He would have water to drink and that the ravens there would supply him with food. The verses go on to tell us that Elijah immediately went and did what God had instructed him to do.
What is so powerful, and what is to be grasped in these four scriptures is this: the only way Elijah could tap into the favor and the care God had for him, was by being in the place God had instructed him to be. Elijah had so much faith and trust in God that he was willing to do what most would think of as "crazy". God could have easily told Elijah that a human would supply him with the food he would need, but no, God said a raven. Now, how many of us can say that we trust God enough to believe that He would send a raven (lets be real, a BIRD), to come and give us breakfast and dinner? We would probably be like, "Nah God, I don't know about all that."
But what I love about this passage is how perfect our God is. He knew that generations and decades later, His children would read this story, and need to see the faith that Elijah had, and tap into that same place to obtain that same favor. As I was typing this, I wondered why God decided to use a raven, instead of an actual person. It came to my spirit quickly, "Anyone can believe that another person comes to feed Elijah, but to see that a raven can come along and take care of one of God's children, that takes this example of faith to another level. God said that He commands even the animals in the sky, and this is a perfect example of that."
How awesome is it for us to be in such a place with God that we can listen to those things He commands us that may seem "crazy" or "foolish" to the world, and be blown away by his awesomeness and power.
It is very important that we seek God and learn His voice, so that He can lead and guide us to the places He has for us to go and be comforted in His power and care.
Praying for Elijah faith: Father I come to you now, believing you and trusting you with my heart. God I ask that you will give me faith like Elijah had, to be able to trust you wholeheartedly, and tap into that place of peace and care that you desire for your children to be. I give you every care, concern, and pain that I am carrying right now, and I bind up the spirit of doubt, depression, and fear that would try to rise up in my spirit to try and make me doubt your power. Take care of me God the same way that you took care of Elijah, and let my testimony of your power be what is needed to help someone else come to the knowledge and power of your truth. I thank and praise you in advance. Amen.
Loving you God's way!
